While I was writing this post, I listened to Marvin Gaye by Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor. Try it !

That was one of the hardest blog posts I've ever had to make because that's one of the things I'm most excited about in my whole makeup collection. I've been collecting the Primark PS... Matte Lipliners for the longest time - three years, about the time my love story with makeup started. I used to go to Primark all the time to check out if new colors had been released and even though it was very far from where I lived (I took two hours on the train and subway to get there), it was a pleasure finding new shades to add to my collection. Even when I went to London with my sister, our very first destination was Primark - she went in for the clothes, I went in for the makeup. Oh, such great memories.

Now that I work in a makeup store, I don't take as much time to go makeup shopping anymore. I do it online but I still don't like to go all the way to a shop to buy makeup especially when I'm at one almost every day. Still, when I go to Primark, I will still check out the makeup department first and although I don't go makeup shopping there often anymore, I'm as in love with their matte lipliners as I've ever been and I've got 20 shades to show you today :D

Primark PS... Makeup | Matte Lip Liners

What first attracted me to these three years ago is the price - in France, one lipliner costs €1.50 and when I go to London, I'll get one for £1. Those are such a bargain. You come for the price, you stay for the quality of the product. They're pretty good, really creamy for the price point and what I like is that the formula is the tiniest bit sticky (a bit like the M.A.C. Cosmetics Lip Prep & Prime) which makes it easy for the lipstick to stay on especially since about every shade of these lipliners has a matching creamy lipstick (or Lustre, as they call them now) - I remember using the Rosewood Mauve lipliner (of which I bought TEN) with the Rosewood Mauve Lustre lipstick a lot when I started wearing them. I was so afraid I'd run out of my baby Rosewood Mauve at that time and I should really start wearing it again, the thing is I'm in my orange lipgloss phase so...! I've just got to say, when you wear the lipliners with the lipsticks on top, the finish is laquered, the color is full af, you've just got amazing, amazing creamy lips that stay on for the longest time - just a tip for you guys, and since a Primark lipstick is about €1.50 if I'm not mistaken...

I like the packaging, black and golden with the colorful cap and bottom that makes them easy to pick up in my collection - they're cute and lightweight and easy to take anywhere with me. One lipliner can be kept for 24 months and is 1.6 g net weight (M.A.C.'s classic lipliners are 1.45 g for comparison and I'm pretty sure you can find dupes in here for some of M.A.C.'s lipliners and even some that you can wear under some M.A.C. lipsticks like Honeylove, Paramount, Whirl or Soar lipsticks to name a few) and you can find the name on a sticker at the top of the liner cap. It's also been printed on the lipliner along with the color's number (for instance, 19 Hot Gossip or 20 Pompous) for a few years now. There was a time when the lipliners only had numbers and once you threw away the sticker with the name on it, you wouldn't know what it was anymore.
On my swatches, from the left to the right, you can find :
- Nudes : Biscuit, Nude, Brown, Desert Sand and Red Velvet
- Pinks & Oranges : Cupcake, Candy Pink, Bonbon, Nectar (17), Nectar (21) and Scarlett
- Purples & Darks : Darling, Pompous, Wicked, Rosewood Mauve, Hot Gossip, Night Tide, Midnight, Bordeaux and Vamp.

Primark PS... Makeup | Matte Lip Liners and What I Think of Them

They're simply amazing. I don't think I've used them often on models since I try to use high-end brands as often as possible on photoshoots but I'll be using them more often since I love them so much on myself ! They're completely matte, creamy, pigmented and very longlasting without being too drying on the lips and for that price point, yeah ! Double yeah ! Careful though, be sure to use a good pencil sharpener if you don't want them to break - sometimes you think the pencil is shitty when it's really just the sharpener that's old - it happened to me, just passing along the tip. Just writing about them makes me want to run to the Eurostar and get to the Tottenham Court Road Primark (my favorite in London) and buy all the makeup I want - you can tell those are very good memories of mine.

These are my babies, that can easily be understood by the amount of time I took for this review. Also, I had a major problem when taking pictures of these because I have many, many more of these lipliners but the problem is, with Primark, they release the same color twice or three times with different names. For instance, Desert Sand was the exact same color of another lipliner also called Nude (but different from the Nude one swatched), Scarlett is also called Red, Rosewood Mauve is also called Dark Pink and also called Vintage Rose so that's confusing and I've wasted a lot of money because of that, thinking I was getting brand new stuff and I'm not happy about that at all. Sometimes even the number is different and the color is exactly the same. Now, when I go to a Primark store, I almost never buy new lipliners (or their Velvet Matte Lip Crayons because of that either, for that matter) even though I love them dearly because I'm afraid I'll be wasting my money.
As a makeup artist, you can imagine I've got more than enough lipliners in my stash that I've never finished any of them and when I buy something, I want it to be unique and unprecedented. At least, they've started printing names on the products so that is cool and the lipliners in my Primark always have their plastic protection so that they remain unopened if I want to buy them so I'm grateful for them upping their game. So please, Primark, release more new original shades !

Have you ever tried the Primark PS... Matte Lipliners or any product from the Primark makeup range ? x
